Cardio Step

A low impact step-based workout incorporating a variety of modalities and techniques to improve cardiovascular fitness. A great workout that will leave you feeling energized and upbeat!

Circuit & Circuit XPress

Circuit training improves whole body strength and endurance through alternating active exercise stations with rest periods. A time-efficient, functional, fat burning workout that will both challenge and reward!
NB: Circuit XPress is a high intensity short duration (30 min) class. A warm-up is recommended prior to commencing this class.

Groove

A cardio workout with a difference! Incorporating a fusion of dance styles with great music – the emphasis is as much on having fun as on breaking a sweat! Provides a great all-round workout suitable for all.

Move & Tone

A mix of cardio and strength training incorporating a light paced cardio component with a variety of different moves to raise the heart rate, followed by a body shaping and stretch component. Effective to tone, strengthen and condition the muscles. Hand weights may be used for the toning part of this class.

Pilates

A mat-based workout designed to develop core muscle strength and improve posture, flexibility and balance. Enhances well-being through relaxation and stress relief. Suitable for all.

Pilates Reformer

With a maximum of 3 participants, these classes are ideal for those wanting to have the benefit of a semi private class. Pilates reformers provide a full body workout using spring loaded resistance, which can be adjusted for all levels of ability. Benefits include toning, flexibility, better posture, efficient movement, body/mind connection, not to mention flat abs!

Tai Chi

Involves a series of uninterrupted, smooth, relaxed, flowing movements enhancing mind-body health. Exercises generate and circulate vital energy, or Chi, around the body by following specific principles of movement, posture and breathing, bringing the body into a state of harmony and balance. Tai Chi enhances circulation and vitality, while improving muscle tension, flexibility, coordination and balance.

Yoga

A balanced combination of yoga styles to help strengthen and lengthen muscles, improve body alignment, posture and awareness. Yoga practices can help relieve the effects of chronic stress and the challenges of contemporary life, bringing the mind and body to a focused, relaxed state and harmony into your life. Suitable for all.

Back Basics

A pre-cursor to Pilates involving a series of mat-based stretching and strengthening exercises to develop core muscle strength, improve posture, flexibility, balance and joint mobility. Ideal for those suffering from chronic back and joint pain, arthritis, poor flexibility and balance, and anyone interested in improving their core strength and back health.

Balance

This class is focused on those who have experienced or are at risk of a fall. Exercises are structured to improve functional movement strength, enhance balance and coordination, and increase overall body awareness. An improved functional capacity will lead to an increase in confidence and self-esteem, and allow you to live life to the fullest.

Boomer Circuit

A low intensity circuit-style class suitable for those new to group exercise. A low intensity cardio warm-up is followed by a combination of resistance, balance, coordination and cardio exercises aimed at improving exercise capacity and functional movement for daily living. Suitable for those suffering from various chronic cardiac and metabolic health conditions including Type 2 diabetes, etc.

Breathe Easy

Designed to improve breathing patterns while improving general fitness and strength for those suffering from various chronic respiratory conditions including COPD (emphysema / bronchitis), asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, sleep apnea, bronchiectasis and lung cancer. During the class blood oxygen level, blood pressure, heart rate and breathing are assessed to ensure that exercises are both safe and effective.

Our Team

Jono Freeman

Managing Director, Accredited Exercise Physiologist

Founder and Managing Director of Club Active, Jono is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist and a specialist in musculoskeletal rehabilitation.

He is also the creator of the Foam Rolling App and author of The Complete Guide to Foam Rolling. Jono is an international presenter and has featured in many fitness and health publications. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the classes and programs developed at Club Active.

Josh Clack

Accredited Exercise Physiologist

Josh is a Senior Exercise Physiologist with Club Active. He has spent the last five years working locally to improve the lives of those with chronic disease and pain to get them back to doing the activities that they enjoy. He is committed to delivering the best evidence-based solutions for the people he works with. Josh utilises exercise as a treatment modality for various chronic health conditions ranging from musculoskeletal dysfunctions right through to respiratory conditions.

On the weekend you will find Josh somewhere in the ocean or training for upcoming triathlons. He is determined to empower his clients with the knowledge that movement is medicine!

Sarah Savage

Exercise Physiologist

Sarah is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist and Exercise Scientist. Sarah is driven to improve the quality of life of her clients through exercise, with a special interest in those who are affected by arthritis and lower back pain. Sarah is continually developing her knowledge and skills in clinical rehabilitation and plans to further her knowledge in shoulder rehabilitation and functional movement screening.

Sarah has competed in netball, swimming and Surf Lifesaving at State and National Level. A personal achievement of Sarah’s was hiking to Everest Base Camp in 2016. Sarah’s personal sporting experience has influenced her passion for exercise and helping those in need of rehabilitation.

Ryan Macdonald

Exercise Physiologist

Ryan is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist and Exercise Scientist whose passion is to help improve his client’s health and fitness regardless of where they are at on their fitness journey through evidence-based exercise interventions. Ryan’s passion lies within musculoskeletal injuries and cardiac/metabolic conditions and is further developing his skills and knowledge in treating clients with neuromuscular conditions.

Ryan enjoys all kinds of sports, competing in soccer and cricket at a state level, and has given most other sports a crack. Ryan’s personal enjoyment in sport and fitness has led him to sharing his passion with his clients as he strongly believes exercise is the best form of medicine.
